Scholars believe that in ancient India, women were enjoying equal status with men in all fields of life. It is known for every one that Indian women had played a very crucial role in the freedom movement and in the post independence period .India has produced women of eminence who played key role in nation building. International organization study  proves women eminence , it says in its recent study that “women represent 50% of the world adult population and a one third of the official labour force and they perform nearly 2/3rd of working hours and receive a 10th of world income and own less than 1% of world property”
Women reservation bill is a constitution’s 108th amendment. it is a still pending bill in India, which proposes to provide 33% of all seats in lower house of parliament in India i.e. the lok sabha and state legislative assembly will be reserved for women.    Since the last six years that all the political parties are assuring its support to women reservation bill.  The upper house of rajya sabha has passed this bill on 9th march 2010. The bill was first drafted by than Prime Minister H.D.Deve Gowda led united front government on September 12, 1996.
By executing this bill, we will have active participation of women in politics in India, this makes
·         Encouragement of women in all sectors, all-round development will be provided for women in all sectors as women knows what are the problems faced by them in the present scenario and problem will be solved
·         Social norms in India strongly favour men , hence reservation for them is expected to create equal opportunity for men and women.
·         India’s sex ratio is in a decreasing trend due to female infanticide, female foeticide, which is a great social issue  can also be solved providing reservation.
·         Corruption which is being a huge issue in India can also be solved bit, as women are supposedly more resistant to corruption, this may help to restrain corruption.
Women’s contribution is inevitable in making India economically, socially stronger. Women are making our nation to compete with the globe. They are being triumphed in all the fields like politics, space, and business and so on. We all know the popular names like Indira nooyi, Sudha narayan murthy, Indira Gandhi , mainly our 1st President Smt.Pratibha Patil. So if not 33% at least of 20% of reservation should be provided for women. Reservation for women is not a bounty but only an honest recognition of their contribution to social and economic development of our nation.
